The young people of Bwlchgwyn youth provision decided for this year’s fund raising event they wanted to raise monies for Bwlchgwyn Village Hall.
To do this they decided that they would like to do a sponsor walk up the beautiful Penllyn – Nant Y Ffrith. Meg, Paige and Amy designed sponsor forms and they were given to the young people. David Marsh kindly offered to plan the route and support the young people with the walk.
On 17th July everyone met at the Village Hall to prepare to begin the walk, there was a great turnout of 23 people, 13 young people from the youth provision, family members, volunteers, youth workers and Baxter the dog. Unfortunately, it was raining when they started but this didn’t stop them, they were off on their adventure.
The walk was led by Michael, a young person from the youth provision and he did a great job. They successfully reached the top of Penllyn, by this time the rain had also stopped. Everyone took in the beautiful views and the young people had some group photos. On the way back down David Marsh filled everyone in about the interesting history of Nan y Ffrith Hall.
Everyone arrived back safe and sound to refreshments and certificates of achievements at the Village Hall.
The young people will now work together with Bwlchgwyn Village Hall Association to see what resources can be bought with the sponsor monies raised, which will benefit the hall and the community as a whole.
Wrexham Youth Service would like to thank all the young people for their commitment and also the volunteers, family members and Youth Workers who made the sponsor walk happen.
