International Women’s Day #BalanceForBetter
International Women’s Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and this year – 2018 celebrates 107 years of celebrations with thanks to the suffragettes.
International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and actions.
In Wrexham the day is being celebrated with a festival of talks, presentations, round table discussions and workshops. Many local organisations are involved that include Wrexham Youth Service, Enterprise Hub, Bank Street Coffee and Glyndwr University, Ty Pawb and Focus Wales.
Wrexham Youth Service are working with young people mark this year’s event, which has offered young women the chance to shadow influential local women for the day.
