Young Wrexham Lives

Young Wrexham has teamed up with students from Coleg Cambria in Wrexham to give an insight into the lives of young people in Wrexham.  Over the next few weeks we will be showcasing their articles that include ‘The life of a football reviewer, ‘Thoughts on Brexit’ for young people, ‘A trip to the moon’, ‘How to build a computer, ‘My favourite album’, ‘My favourite gig’, ‘Things I would change in Wrexham’, ‘Things I love about Wrexham. In the project you can talk about most things (nothing rude, lude or crude) and it can be carried out by writing/video or animation.  If you would like to take part in the ‘Young Wrexham Lives’ project then please contact us.

Volunteering is useful for many different reasons, the most important for young people is the information added to your CV.

Many young people haven’t had jobs recently or haven’t been to many work experiences so their CV will not be as full as it could be.

Companies want employees with a CV with a lot of benefits towards them, if one person has volunteered for months and shows dedication and also has been to college for 2 years, then the other person just went to college for 2 years, the company will likely choose the person with more experience, who has volunteered.

Please see AVOW for further local details

Another reason volunteering is useful is because it gives the person (whatever age) something to do with their spare time.

Instead of being inside all day every day, why not volunteer for a business?

There are many benefits to volunteering for a business such as simply getting out the house, adding to your CV or even meeting new people, so why not try it today?

Here is an interesting video which explains to you why you should choose volunteering in your community.

This is another great video but talks more in depth on the advantages to yourself, such as a better social life, the work environment and your own personal health.

If you are someone who prefers lists of advantages instead, here it is.

Volunteering connects you to people, improve self-esteem, your physical wellbeing improves your outlook, you can have a work – life balance, improve your leadership skills and many more skills.
