We are running a Time Out For Parents- ‘How to drug proof your kids’ course.
This will consist of 6x face-to-face sessions on Tuesday Mornings 09:30-11:30am:
18th April 2023, 25th April 2023, 2nd May 2023, 9th May 2023, 16th May 2023 and 23rd May 2023.
This will be held at the Victoria young person’s Centre, 13 Hill Street, Wrexham, LL11 1SN.
***Free of charge***
This course is suitable for parents of children aged 8 years and above.
A completed referral from is be required for each participant. Self-referrals are also accepted. Please note that this course is for the parents only and unfortunately, we are unable to provide crèche facilities. All participants must be able to commit to all of the 6 sessions.
Deadline for referrals is Friday 7th April 2023.
With an emphasis on prevention, this course is designed to:
-Give parents a realistic overview of drug use in society and its related harm
-Provide parents with an understanding of protective factors and the role they play with helping to steer our children clear of drug use
-Help parents establish strategies that will strengthen their influence in areas such as their own well-being, communication and responding to issues such as alcohol use
-Educate and empower parents with skills and strategies that will influence their children’s choices regarding drug use
-Provide parents with a sense of community based support.

Session 2 – Building a strong foundation
Session 3 – Creating integrity and responsibility
Session 4 – Communication and participation
Session 5 – Creating a ‘safe network’ and peace of mind
Session 6 – Recognition and affirmation
